movie friday: sleepy hollow

Too late both for movie wednesday and halloween but I present to you this lovely movie anyway.

And Sleepy Hollow (1999) is indeed lovely. It is one of my favourite "scary" movies. I've always been intrigued by the story of The Headless Horseman all the way since I saw the cartoon. Johnny Depp, Tim Burton and beautiful Christina Ricci make this movie beyond magical.

To be honest, it isn't much of a scary movie, it is too funny to be that despite some macabre scenes. Depp plays Ichabod Crane, a constable/doctor who is a little too faint hearted for his profession. Especially when it comes to using it to solve murders...

If you end up watching this movie, try to guess how many times our dear Johnny faints?

I've always been a huge fan of childish poetics of Tim Burton's movies and of course, huge fan of Johnny. So it isn't surprise that combination of both always amaze me. :)

By the way, your blog and words makes me smile. Thank you, dear.

I love this movie and not just because Johnny's in it nor is it because Tim Burton is the mastermind behind it.. but its exactly the kind of "light hearted macabre" that I enjoy the most. I dont think I can sit down and watch a totally serious version of this legend.. it would be way too scary, I think.
