London Calling

Photobucket

It's time to fly over the pond again! I've been hoping for this for years and now it's finally planned. Airplane tickets are ordered, the date is set, and I can't help but dream myself away to endless days spent shopping, eating at Starbucks and just being with my family. We are leaving in the end of March.

On a completely other note, yesterday I watched Vanilla Sky again. Last time I watched it I didn't like it very much. Yesterday, let's just say, there were tears. Such a beautiful movie at times, the ending really was truly beautiful. When this happens, when I see an old movie a completely different way, I can't help but wonder how much a person can change over time. The movie is just the same year after year but one day you can find yourself seeing it with different eyes.

Next post will be a movie post and a things I love post (kind of like things I love Thursday except it wouldn't be Thursday).

Oh, and you should really check out this tumblr: movieoftheday. Bye for now!

Poppy love

A little note to tell you all I'm still alive. I had a most wonderful Christmas and there was snow too, lots of snow. I have watched lots of movies and series (mostly Sex and the City, I'm such a Carrie fan!) and played Zelda on the new wii. My sister was home for the holidays and we spent quite some time together for once which was nice.

So on to the costumary what-I'm-excited-for-in-2010-list!
<3 Spring and summer: Will be amazing this year. Cabin in the middle of nowhere, swimming in the river, planting poppies in the garden and my windows, reading magazines on the grass, wearing dresses and smiles will make summer 2010 the most amazing one yet.
<3 London! I'm going there sometime in May I think. The plans aren't complete yet, but I'm stiill very excited. Topshop here I come!
<3 Alice in Wonderland: Geekish I know, but hello! I have waited for this movie all since Johnny promised us a new Tim Burton movie after Sweeney Todd (not that I ever doubted there would be one). Amazing! Oh, and it's on 3D! Not that I care so much for 3D movies but I have never seen Johnny Depp in one before... need I say more?
<3 Essie nailpolish in Mint Candy Apple and One of a Kind! Well, this sounds lame, but seriously! I'm very excited to have these two landing in my mail! I've always wanted Chanel Jade Green but I can't get it anywhere, so Mint Candy Apple is a good dupe! And One of a Kind is a poppy color...
<3 Writing! This year will be the year I'll seriously start to write again!
<3 Trip to Sweden: Well this one isn't planned at all, but I'm sure I can make it happen in the summer sometime. Monki, monki, monki...

Oh, and did you know poppies is my favourite flower and that it stands for eternal sleep? Oh, and there is Pride and Prejudice on TV tonight... rambling...

A special treat for you today! My favourite movie of all times, at least the movie I have watched the most! I had such a hard time finding decent pictures from my favourite scenes which I find quite strange so I had to screencap them myself. Isn't this movie just perfection? I understand those who find this movie to be plotless or/and boring but I think it is quite the opposite. I love how this movie is stripped of anything close to a cliché, how the music helps create such a dreamy atmosphere. I love how it depicts two people being so lost in life even though they seem to have a perfect ones and how they, in the end, find love and comfort in each other.

Watch it and love it. I promise, if you give this movie time, it will be one of the best you have ever seen. In all honesty, I did hate it the first time I watched it.

Bob: I don't want to leave.
Charlotte: So don't. Stay here with me. We'll start a jazz band.

I wish you all an amazing Christmas. I'm sure I'll see you all before the new year settles in.

Christmas is finally approaching which thought alone is enough to make me peaceful. I love lazy days staying inside watching movies and reading books. I guess everybody has a special Christmas movie, the one movie that alone can bring Christmas so close to the heart and make snow fall if not outside then in our minds. For me that movie is Edward Scissorhands. It hasn't been 'my' Christmas movie for long, perhaps just a couple of years, but now I won't call it Christmas before I've seen it at least once. Sometimes even I want to save it so I can watch it on Christmas eve or Christmas day.

Enough babbling about me, on with the movie! First off, I guess it is not your traditional Christmas movie, but I guess you knew that? Johnny Depp plays Edward (not Cullen!) who has scissors instead of hands. Although he has trouble fitting in, eventuelly he finds himself a place in the pastel/plastic community he starts to live in. There he meets lovely Winona Ryder (which we all know was Johnny's girlfriend at the time!!) who falls madly in love with him.

I think this is one of the movies that reflects Tim Burton in a more personal way. It's about a person who finds himself alone and enstranged from other people because he is different. As Edward tries to adapt to other people as to be liked, he finds out how quickly people can turn from love to hate in an instant.

Watch it, it's a truly remarkable film!

The passenger

Kate, Johnny and Iggy

She is a passenger she tells me one late afternoon. She tells me about all that she sees. She tells me about birds without wings and sharks with no teeth and she tells me how everything is reduced to a blur of color as she rushes by, thousand miles an hour. She tells me about other worlds with other people. She talks about other thoughts and other skies. She describes the worlds with great detail. She asks me what I think. I think about how she has seen so much and done so little but I don't tell her because that is not what she wants to hear.

movie friday: sleepy hollow

Too late both for movie wednesday and halloween but I present to you this lovely movie anyway.

And Sleepy Hollow (1999) is indeed lovely. It is one of my favourite "scary" movies. I've always been intrigued by the story of The Headless Horseman all the way since I saw the cartoon. Johnny Depp, Tim Burton and beautiful Christina Ricci make this movie beyond magical.

To be honest, it isn't much of a scary movie, it is too funny to be that despite some macabre scenes. Depp plays Ichabod Crane, a constable/doctor who is a little too faint hearted for his profession. Especially when it comes to using it to solve murders...

If you end up watching this movie, try to guess how many times our dear Johnny faints?
